Life is A Gift

One day we decided to walk down the lane past Wegerzyn gardens as the road beckoned. There was a lovely lake surrounded by fields, trees here and there, just an idyllic scene. We spied a picnic table down by the shore some distance away and decided to explore. I just happened to have a lunch packed too! Here and there we started seeing flat marker stones, most hidden amongst the rather high grass, and realized just what the "memorial" park meant on the weather beaten sign by the dirt parking area. Dwight Compton Memorial Park- I could find no reference to it on-line later.

It was a beautiful sunny day and in the far reaches of  Jay lake there was a flock of Canadian geese. One took off and flew in our direction landing with a splash  just across from us. He started honking and within a few minutes the remaining geese started making their way towards him in single file. I counted eighteen in total. They eventually took themselves out of the water on the opposite bank from us and rested amongst the grasses and reeds. Dragonflies, a cluster of three, flew and danced amongst the reeds by waters edge. Their blue tipped wings flashing in the sunlight. I took note of the subtle details of the scene. For those who know me you know I look upon all things in nature as symbols and messages. Nature Talk.

Canadian geese are symbolic of story telling, for example, Mother Goose. They stir the imagination and represent movement...in particular spiritual quests, searching for one's place and the lure of adventure. I keep a red, crackle-glass vase with three goose feathers on my desk for inspiration. I love to write and tell stories. The number 18; 1 + 8=9 , a number of healing and understanding. I look on my life at this time and I have been truly on a spiritual quest to find my true purpose and my place. It has been a time of intense personal grief and healing. Writing/journaling has been the method I use to help myself in this healing time. Dragonflies symbolize new perspective, change, Joy...using the creative as a force in your life. The number three- symbol of birth, the mystical and creativity! Nature's subtle messages to me that day just added joy and hope to my day. I feel I am on the right path.

                                            On the walk back, I discovered this marker;

You never know where you will find unexpected inspiration...a place of sad memories and death sharing a message of hope and living! Be grateful for the journey. Be joyful!

                                             "Life's a gift, Be generous!"  Pass it on!
